Twistechnology Drives Aerospace Sustainability with the EconCARBon Project
Aligned with our commitment to technological innovation and sustainable development, Twistechnology is proud to participate in the EconCARBon project—a forward-looking initiative aimed at transforming the aerospace sector through advanced composite materials and eco-design principles.
Innovation for a Lighter, Greener Future
The main goal of the EconCARBon project is to increase the application of composite materials in aircraft fuselage and empennage structures, through the eco-design of highly weight-efficient aerostructures. The project integrates circular economy solutions that address waste generated during manufacturing, as well as at the end of the aircraft’s lifecycle.
Twistechnology’s Role in the Project
As a key member of the consortium, Twistechnology contributes its expertise in advanced twisting and coating technologies, essential for processing next-generation fibers and hybrid structures used in composite applications.
Our involvement focuses on:
-
Optimizing twisting and coating processes for technical fibers and composite reinforcements.
-
Developing machinery and solutions tailored to recycled and eco-friendly materials.
-
Supporting the industrial transition to sustainable, high-performance components.
Through our strong R&D foundation, Twistechnology plays an active role in enabling scalable, energy-efficient innovations that address the demanding needs of the aerospace industry.
A Strategic Leap for the Spanish Aerospace Sector
The EconCarbon project marks a significant step toward cleaner, more efficient aviation and aims to position Spanish industry as a global leader in sustainable aerostructure development.
The project is being developed by a consortium made up of AIRBUS OPERACIONES, FCC ÁMBITO, GRUPSON TRADE (Twistechnology), and IDEC. It is funded by the CDTI (Spanish Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology) with support from the Ministry of Science and Innovation, under file number MIG-20241002 as part of the 2024 Science and Innovation Missions call, within the Transfer and Collaboration Program of the Spanish State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2024–2027, and framed within the European Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
